Many countries of the world are suffering from delinquencies committed by juveniles. It is a serious problem for any country. The causes behind criminal attitude are different from region to region. The juvenile delinquency is very sensitive issue for any society, community and country. I will describe here, the major 4 ways to prevent juvenile delinquency.

Time-to-time, many guidelines are created and amended by United Nations to deal with the issues, but the increasing rate of delinquency even nowadays are challenging for any country.

Juveniles are the future of any society and country. It would be more effective to watch early alarming signals and try to correct in that stage rather than handling after the occurrence of delinquency.

The increasing rates of juvenile’s delinquency also raise question marks of the effectiveness of culture, ethics, comprehension and living standard of the society, efforts of prevention by organization and judicial system of the government.

It is observed that most delinquencies were taken place under the influence of drugs or alcohol. Whenever these were consumed, the ability to decide right and wrong were vanished. They were not in the position to decide what they were going to do was right or wrong. In most cases police reported that, majority of juveniles were found expressing high regret in the police custody after committing the delinquency.

By expressing regret some were found to make the situation in favor, while major numbers of juveniles were in real regret.

Consuming drug or alcohol is absolutely wrong. However, if they were taught in advance how to control themselves from impulse of bad thoughts during and after consuming alcohol, many delinquencies can be prevented.

1. Lack of basic needs

Food, shelter and clothing are the basic needs. Juveniles belong to such family or society who are struggling for their basic needs, are tended to choose any way to get their basic needs. They have no any difference in right or wrong way to get the things. Teenage is very crucial for controlling the emotions and preventing from derailment. Juveniles who belong to such background have many chances of committing the delinquency to achieve their basic needs. They tended to choose any shortcut to get the things at the earliest.

2. Violence at home

It is observed that, children of such families whose members are often quarreling with each other are found to be violent in their teenage. Home is the first place for children to learn many vital things that lead to their future. Violence at home keeps the children deprived from their essential needs. They don’t get the right environment to express their problems or share happiness. They feel ignored in the family. This is the age when they are more in need of parents’ interaction but in the violent environment they also became violent and aggressive. They tended to commit any delinquency because they are treated and learn aggressive behavior from their home.

3. Poor parenting

Children are like a lump of soft clay. Parents are the potter of their children. They become molded in a shape, how their parents have nurtured them. Due to lack of proper parenting knowledge, unknowingly parents used to craft their children in wrong shape. This results in rude, aggressive and unpleasant behavior of their children. Poor parenting leads the children to commit unlawful acts which are neither good for family, society nor any country.

4. Lack of education

Lack of education forced the juveniles to commit the delinquency in both ways. First, they are deprived from learning the good values that leads them to grow with discipline and good character. Second, education makes the children able to grow with their clear goal. It prevents them to be involved in unethical ways. Education helps juveniles to distinguish right and wrong things and make them able to choose the right path for their successful life. In the absence of good education, they don’t able to know what should be done and what shouldn’t.

5. Lack of finance

Finance is one of the vital thing that push juveniles towards delinquency to fulfill their needs. Juveniles who belong to the family, who is struggling for finance for a long time, feel unsatisfied. Mostly it is found that, if teens are not nurtured with great values, they more likely tended to use wrong means to get satisfied. They don’t hesitate to commit the delinquency to get money. In this case, some parents also found welcoming their unethical means. It spreads like a pandemic in long run and makes the entire country hollow.

Juveniles are found more inclined towards their friend circle and rely on their advice. They are not enough mature to choose the right person as friends. If any teenager becomes part of some bad elements, it is more chances to be influenced by them and get derailed. They want to get the same respect or treatment like their parents. Slowly they become habitual and feel it as their right. These feeling make them arrogant and lead to misuse the respect and power of their parents. Whenever, they have to face the reality, they become aggressive and commit the serious delinquency.

It is human nature from childhood to draw attention of others. Whenever juveniles found themselves neglected or not able to draw attention because of their qualities, they try to do something different to be recognized among people or friends. In this race, knowingly or unknowingly they tended to do unlawful act to get attract. Slowly, it converts into easy act to break the rule and commit delinquency.

13. Drug or alcohol abuse

By nature, juveniles want to experiment, experience and taste everything they come across. This way, they start to consume drugs and alcohol too. Whenever they become addicted, they want it in regular basis. This situation forced them to commit delinquencies in both ways. In this age they have no enough pocket money to fulfill their requirements. They found themselves so constrained to commit the delinquency to get money to purchase drugs or alcohol. Secondly, after consuming drugs or alcohol, the capability to distinguish between right and wrong is vanished. They don’t able to think deeply how serious delinquency they are going to commit and what would be the result.

Juveniles’ delinquency is not only a serious matter for them but also for family, society and even country too. They all have to take responsibility to prevent it. Juveniles’ delinquency prevention responsibility can be distributed in the following ways:

1. Parents’ responsibility

The greater responsibility of juvenile’s delinquency prevention goes to parents. They should be serious about it. Following ways, they can nurture their child:

  • Start educating your child well in advance, in the womb.

Children start learning well in advance from their birth. Traditionally it is believed that children’s mental and behavioural development start as soon as they are conceived. Their personality begins to take place in the womb and educating the mind of the fetus can be influenced by the mother’s state of mind during pregnancy.

Babies listen and feel mother’s feelings even when they are developing in the womb. You can shape up your baby’s first impression by listening quality music, visualizing good things, meditating, positive thinking and listening noble person’s success stories. It is scientifically proven.

School teacher should teach them importance of discipline and moral values. If teens found irregular in school, teacher should talk about and inform the parents. 3. Society responsibility

Juveniles are the copy of the society from which they belong to. It should be a social responsibility of parents and senior persons to respect the values and not be involved in any delinquency. If any person found indulges in wrong habits, he should be socially boycott from the society and be informed to get rid of. It should be the responsibility of society to not allow any teenager addicted of drug or alcohol. They should take action on their level to prevent them, if necessary.

However, if any teenager found guilty and get punished by the government institution, society should accept him/her. They should bring the teenager in main stream if he/she has improved himself.

4. Responsibility of government institution

Government institutions should have regular effective programs at the ground level to take care of juveniles and let them know the consequences of committing delinquency. Punishment should be quick and hard but culprit should be given sufficient chances to improve themselves. The society also should help them to get rid of bad habits.

Juveniles are our future

Responsibility goes to everyone to protect our teens from committing any delinquency. They are our future. We should protect them by teaching discipline and values from very early stage of their life.
